Skiathos is the main island of the Sporades, in a quiet corner of the Aegean, only 3 nautical miles from mainland Greece and the city of Volos. Its golden sandy beaches, deep green mountains, history and monuments make it one of the most beautiful islands in Greece.
Cosmopolitan Skiathos Town
Skiathos Town is the island’s only town and home to most of its people. Expect a cosmopolitan atmosphere, with Greek and international restaurants, cafés, bars and nightclubs.
Sixty-eight beaches
The water at most beaches is shallow, which makes them good for families with small children, and some rank among the most beautiful in Greece. Kolios beach, the nearest to Skiathos Diamond, is five minutes’ walk away. Banana beach, in the south-west and a short walk from the last bus stop, is twenty minutes by bus; it is really two beaches, the smaller one naturist.
